Wisdom quotes and psychology of the spirit. faith v belief

quote from

The Wisdom of Insecurity - Alan Watts  page 23

"Faith has no preconceptions; it is a plunge into the unknown. Belief clings, but faith lets go. In this sense of the word, faith is the essential virtue of science, and likewise of any religion that is not self-deception."

The Psychology:
Rigid beliefs are concrete structures built on foundations of fear.

There are far better roads to take - for example the symbolic stories of Mythology and the symbols of dreams: (recommended Edward Edinger - analyst).

In the myth of the phoenix, the phoenix has to die to enable the REBIRTH. Having been reborn, the individual has an experience which makes Faith both easy and inevitable, and there is no need or place for dogma, whatever its name.
